Color Psychology
People believe that there are things called color psychology. Essentially, color psychology is all about how colors make you feel. For instance, you can see on a site like Houzz.com what each color represents:
Blue: The study surmises that since blue has long been associated with feelings of calmness — water, blue sky etc. — the color helps us chill out before sleep. In fact, blue also is said to help reduce blood pressure and heart rate, for more sound sleep.
Green: Green also creates a calm and soothing vibe, which is why it appears to be the third best color for getting sleep. People with green rooms get an average of seven hours and 30 minutes of sleep per night, and 22 percent of those surveyed say they wake up "feeling upbeat and positive."
Yellow: Certain shades of yellow come in second in promoting the best night's sleep: seven hours and 40 minutes on average per night. Warm yellow relaxes the body by stimulating the nervous system and calming the nerves.
Orange: Orange, surprisingly, is close behind, with people getting an average of seven hours and 28 minutes of sleep. The warm color also creates a "stable and reassuring atmosphere and can even help digestion too — especially if you have eaten a large or late-evening meal," according to the survey.
And these are just a few colors of the rainbow, but every color has its own benefits, as well as disadvantages. For example, purple. You would think that purple would be okay to put in a bedroom, right? Studies show its one of if not the worst color to put in a bedroom. This isn’t just about wall colors either; it can also deal with furnishings, comforters, blankets, etc. Purple is supposed to get you the less sleep out of all the colors of the rainbow, and purple is supposed to make people feel anxious or fidgety. Colors are a very important part of every bedroom so it’s important that you choose that right ones to get the best sleep, feel the best when going to sleep and waking up or when you are in the bedroom relaxing and unwinding.
Features and Products
If you take a look at some of those home decorating magazines and then you look at your bedroom and you think "what did I do wrong" because it’s not as sensual or inviting or cozy as yours; consider adding special features and certain design products into the bedroom. You would be surprised at what things like silk plants, distressed walnut armoires or fireplace can do for a bedroom. It can turn blah into amazing with a few simple items and you can really help create the same rooms you seen in all those amazing home magazines. Consider adding statement pieces, accent walls or different textures and fabrics into your bedroom such as plush carpets, wood or fabric roman shades or even textured bedding to give you the look you really want.
