Bedroom Design for Women
Women always seem to have a natural knack when it comes to creating a cozy, warm and inviting house. But, just about anyone can do this, you just need to follow a few simple rules of design, thrown in a little creativity, and plan a budget for the interior design and you can easily and quickly create an amazing home. If you need a few ideas, or you just aren't as creative as you would like to be, continue reading the section below for some amazing ideas on themes, reusing items and upcycling, as well as paint color tricks, focal points, accent colors and more. Hopefully these tips can get you started or inspire you to create your own ideas.
Themes
My first rule when it comes to themes is this: It doesn’t matter the trends, or what’s in style, or what top decorator says about so and so products. What matters is what you like and don't like. Just the same, if you find a few different contrasting colors you like, you can create a pretty spectacular theme like never before. Themes don’t have to be incredibly defined i.e.; beach house, ocean view, French chic, etc. Themes can also just be colors that go really well together; chocolate brown and blue, lemongrass and khaki, etc. Just make sure since it is a woman's bathroom, that you use womanly themes and colors. You also need to think about your location in terms of what is around your home; lakes, beaches, woodlands and the climate you live in.
Reusing, Recycling and Upcycling
When it comes to recycling things, women, more than men, tend to be really good at this. If you have the ability to create something in your house, such as a focal wall, frames for pictures, or any kind of an artsy presentation using any kind of recycled products, you should. Not only is it great to use recycled items because it lessens the carbon footprint, and helps keep even more stuff out of landfills, but it’s also a great way to create a custom item that no one else is going to have in their house. A few ideas are old corks to create cork flooring - these are really comfortable to walk on and how many people can say they have a cork floor in their home? Another option is to use a whole bunch of broken up glass from wine bottles, beer bottles, water bottles and even old vases, smooth out the edges, and use these for backsplashes in your kitchen like a mosaic style print. Or maybe you like styles like country chic, French chic or antique; you can find old pieces at garage sales, sand them down, seal them, paint them, etc. and add them to your home to complete the look. There are MANY different options when it comes to reusing, recycling and upcycling when it comes to home remodeling and interior design trends.
Focal Points and Accent Walls
Focal points are a great way to create or showcase something specific in your home. For example, if you have a really expensive professional Chef stove and oven, and above it you have a remodeled or re-used hood made out of something like brass - something really eye catching, and you want a way to get people to focus their attention on that point when they walk in your kitchen, you can do all sorts of things to draw their eye view from the entrance to the kitchen to that specific part of the kitchen where that antiqued hood is. One way is to use backsplashes, but there are many other options such as using lights as a way to direct people’s eyes to the item, or you can set the kitchen up, so that the flow leads to the hood, etc. Accent walls are also a way to create a focal point. Accent walls, unlike rooms where all four or five walls are painted, use just one wall. This wall can essentially be painted any color you want if you are placing something on the wall for the focal point, or you can use accent walls to bring color into a room.
